1 month appt update

Actually they will be 5 weeks Thursday, but we had their 1 month appt today.  Overall, they got a great report. He now outweighs her at 8lbs 7 oz and she weighs 7lbs 14 oz…both gaining nicely!!

Lately they are much more alert during the day and we are having fun talking to them and watching them grow…tracking objects, lifting their heads while on their tummy, and cooing just a bit!! They do tend to get very fussy late evening making for a very long night!  As they were crying (or screaming, rather) during the appt for all their measurements and such, the pediatrician called them VERY COLICKY.  Uh oh…that is what I was afraid of.  Not much you can do ‘bout that!  If any of you have any suggestions, PLEASE share!  The doc said that it tends to peak at 3 months and could last until 5 months…WHAT!?!?!  If you have had experience with Colic, how long did it last? One good thing…the doc said that babies who have colic tend to be very bright and be great leaders! Then we have 2 GENIUSES on our hands!

Here is a pic from Finley’s bath last night!  Zane was not as happy afterwards, so I did not capture a pic of him!

They are absolutely precious!! It seems like they change so much from post to post. It's reminding me to cherish all of these moments when our Peanut arrives because they grow so fast!

I don't have too much advice regarding colic. I do remember that one of Brad's cousins had a baby with terrible colic. At one point during a family gathering they laid him on top of an exercise ball and with their hand on his back gently rolled/bounced him back and forth. He loved it and it immediately quieted him. Not sure if it was a fluke or not. If I hear of anything else helpful I will pass it along!

Yea! I am so glad to hear an update on the sweet little Perez twins! If there is ANYTHING I can do to help you, give you a break, whatever... please let me know!

Love you, oodles!

Hang in there. The good news is that colic won't last forever, the bad news is that it's pretty miserable right now. Davis has severe reflux and the first 9 weeks were a nightmare. He was a very angry infant but now he is happily medicated. :)

I feel for you. I wish I could be there.

Suzanne, you guys are doing so well - a MILLION times better than I was!

Your Finley looks so much like my Kendra (I even emailed my hubby to check if my eyes were seeing properly and he agrees) :)

How's your body healing? Q - are your knees sore? Weird question but my knees are buggered after the twin pregnancy. Only got better from about 12 weeks.

I forgot 2 things.
1. You look great and I can't believe it's hot enough right now to be wearing shorts (Gary).
2. Does the swing help with calming the babies down? Also I think there is some type of vibrating pad that you can strap to them or put in their bed that helps. Not sure what it's called.

They are so cute and you are looking fantastic! Trent screamed every day from 5pm to 7pm from about 4 weeks to 12 weeks. I found that there was little I could do about it except pour myself a glass of wine :) Most of the time we would let him cry in in swing (which he LOVED) or I would put him in a sling around me. Hang in there and the good news is that it won't last forever!

Also, with Trent it peaked around 2 months. I also took him on alot of walks during his fussy time but sometimes that would just delay the fussiness for an hour or so. Anyway just know that you are not alone. :)

Hey Suzanne! Congrats on the babies-they are adorable! I've been keeping up via Blakeley's blog! Charlie was a tad colicy, and we found that swaddling with white noise (he was especially fond of the vaccuum) worked miracles for him. We got that from reading "The Happiest Baby on the Block", thought I would pass that on! Good luck and CONGRATS!!!

They look great!

Our screaming issues were bad from about 1 to about 3 months. Movement (feeding on an exercise ball), white noise (a hair dryer of all things!), swaddling, and a pacifier are the things that worked for us. And I think she had reflux, but she didn't do well on the med we tried.

Good luck. It WILL pass.
