Belly dance…

Okay, so I tried to capture all the crazy roller coaster movement in my belly, but I think Finley and Zane are a bit camera shy (we will change that for sure)!  As soon as I turned it on they stopped and when I turned it off they went again!

This captures Finley as she is on the left side head up.  It will be hard to capture Zane because he is at the bottom of my belly and head down.

I had read somewhere that they can play with you if you poke around a bit, so you get to see me play with Finley! She responded for sure one time!

Just keep our eye on the left side of my belly, you should see some movement!

Peri appt update

I went in for my appt with the Perinatologist this morning.  First thing first…I got to see the babies and they look great!  The doc is estimating their weight to be about 3 1/2 lbs.  We will be doing a growth scan next appt!

And then…we did another fetal fibronectin test and this week it came back positive.  A positive result really means that there is a percentage that I may possibly go into preterm labor within 1-3 weeks , but I may not (very vague I know).  It may also be a false positive, so we are just being extra cautious…I will continue to be a couch potato!

And now for my dilemma…to do a full course of steroid shots or not.  I certainly know the benefits of the shots for helping lung development.  But it concerns me if I have to do multiple rounds. If anyone has any advice/input, please share!

29 weeks!!

Friday marked week 29! I had a doctor’s appt on Friday and although he didn’t do any exam, he said everything looked great.  My belly is measuring at 37 weeks for a singleton pregnancy! He did “write” me a prescription for a silver bell!!!

Jolyn had an appt Friday morning as well, so she came back and kept me company during the appt! Then we took a tour of the NICU.  A mom of twins recommended that I go see it before hand just to ease any concerns I may have.  They were so nice and answered any questions I had and offered so much more info.

I go see the Peri tomorrow and am hoping he does a more thorough exam and we get an update on my cervix.  I’ll keep you posted!

Office shower

Gary’s sweet co-workers hosted an office shower last Thursday.  I am so glad I was able to meet everybody…they were all so nice.  And they sent me home with the leftover food and CUPCAKES from Sugar Mama’s  (YUM)!

3 little babies, 2 special friends…

Jolyn and I were showered with gifts this weekend at an amazing shower hosted by Amy, Emily, Christiana, and Jamille.  I am still overwhelmed with all the generosity from everyone.  Of course, no detail was left unturned.  There was a photomontage with our baby pictures and pictures of friends and family that was so special, we each took away a super cute diaper cake, and just enjoyed everyone’s company and advice!

Here are some pics from the fantastic day…

Let’s play the name game!!

This weekend, my In-laws came in and we decided to let them guess the names  with a little word scramble! It was fun to see all the different combinations of letters they actually came up with!

What do you think they are?

NLYIFE (girl)

EZNA  (boy)

Keeping me company…

Grammy and Blakeley came over to keep me company while mom ran an errand.  Blakeley loves the dog bed…she plops down and relaxes!

We also made music with cooking utensils! What fun!

The Belly.

The belly is growing!!!!  According to my docs, I have big fat babies…that is what I am hoping for!!! I think my belly certainly depicts this!!

27.5 week belly pic

Symptoms lately:

  • Heartburn is still rampant!
  • Frequent trips to the potty.
  • Pelvic pressure especially on my bladder from our little guy’s head!
  • LOTS of movement from both babies…often at different times.  Hope this does not reflect their future sleeping patterns!
  • Limited lung capacity…shortness of breath can even occur when sitting and talking.
  • Hungry, but not much room, so trying to eat small meals  all day long.

28 weeks today!

Here is what they look like, except he is head down and she is head up!

Perinatologist appt update

What a morning! I got up this morning to welcome the Bug man to do the regular treatment...he was supposed to be here between 8-10 and he was here at 7:45!!! Then I started calling the Peri's office at 8:30 to try to make an appt. They said that the only way I could get in this week was if my OB called them...thank goodness my OB's office answered and they called right away. At 9:00, my OB called and said that if I could get there in 15 min that they could see me...I said "I am walking out the door!"

The appt was very thorough. They did an ultrasound and took some measurements of the bebes, then he did a fetal fibronectin test to test for a protein that is present in pre-term labor, then did a digital cervical check (meaning with his hand...whoa...it was my first one!), then measured the cervix with a vaginal sonogram, and finally they monitored my belly for any contractions.

My cervix is about half way open from the top of the cervix and is thinning out a bit at the bottom. He did go ahead and give me a steroid shot to help development of bebes lungs. We are waiting to hear the reults from the fetal fibronectin test to determine further treatment (if I need to go in tomorrow for my 2nd shot). As of right now, I am still taking it easy, praying for a negative fetal fibronectin test, and will be horizontal as much as I can...anything to keep them in longer!

UPDATE: The fetal fibronectin test came back negative!!!!!!!! WHEW! I go back in 2 weeks to see the peri.

Update on the bebes!!

We got to see the babies today! It had been a while so it was so good to see them.  They are certainly growing…

He is 2lbs 10 oz.  She is 2lbs 9 oz.  They are in the 60th percentile! YAY!  Their heartbeats were great…she was hiccupping!

The one thing I was nervous about was my cervix.  It is funnelling (beginning to open).  It measured approx 2.something cm… a typical un-effaced un-dialated cervix is approximately 4cm. I have been referred to a perinatologist and hope to get in Mon or Tues to see him.  He will decide on bed rest or cervical cerclage.  I want to keep them in as long as possible, so whatever he thinks will help.  Needless to say  I will be spending the weekend on the couch/in bed as much as possible! Any recommendations for good books or netflix movies would be appreciated!

I’ll let y’all know what I find out! Fingers are crossed!

Pugs on a rug

The Pugs are really enjoying the new rug in the nursery!  It is a perfect fit and super soft…best thing about it is that I got it on sale for $150 at West Elm!

It will be great for tummy time and when they are learning to sit up!

We go in for an ultrasound on Friday and I can not wait! I hope the babies are growing and developing just as they should be!  Stay tuned full report Friday afternoon!
